[IS01] FIP forum--Global cooperation of pharmaceutical professionals under COVID-19 pandemic

Sat. Mar 27, 2021 3:45 PM - 5:45 PM [Room A] Oral Presentation A (Online)

Organizer: Masaru Kato (Sch. Pharmacy, Showa Univ.), Tatsuro Irimura (Juntendo Univ.), Takuya Kumamoto (Grad. Sch. Biomed. Health Sci., Hiroshima Univ.)

With no signs of COVID-19 converging, people are looking forward to developing effective treatments as soon as possible while seeking more effective infection prevention measures. In particular, correct infection prevention measures are extremely important for patients (underlying diseases such as cardiovascular disease) and elderly people with severe or high case fatality rates. Therefore, people’s expectations for the dissemination of right information on COVID-19 by pharmacists and pharmaceutical researchers and the development of new preventive measures and drugs are expected to be very high. The International Federation of Pharmaceutical Sciences (FIP) continues to provide useful information to people promptly as guidance for SARS-CoV-2 (https://www.fip.org/coronavirus). This symposium introduces efforts by pharmaceutical professionals from various stakeholders (international pharmacy federation, regulatory agency, pharmacist, and company) regarding the development and appropriate use of drugs for COVID-19, and shares information with participants. We will provide a place to discuss future activities of pharmaceutical professionals aiming at the COVID-19 pandemic end.

Opening remarks: Masaru Kato (Showa University) (3:45 PM - 3:48 PM)

Discussion and closing remarks: Tatsuro Irimura (Juntendo University) (5:33 PM - 5:45 PM)
