[S07] To advance the health and well-being of infants, children, adolescents, young adults, and their families through innovative pharmacy education

Sat. Mar 27, 2021 1:15 PM - 3:00 PM [Room F] Oral Presentation F (Online)

Organizer: Kushida Kazuki (Showa Pharmaceutical Univ.), Unei Hiroko (Department of Pharmaceutical Services, Hiroshima Univ. Hospital)

One of the social problems that our country faces is the simultaneous decline in birthrates and aging of the population. Analyzing the population by age shows that the number of people aged 65 and over continues to increase, while the rapid decline in the number of working-age people and the population between 0 and 13 years old stands out. With the advent of this low birthrate and graying society, the integration of regional health, medical, and nursing care systems based on municipalities is advancing toward regional comprehensive care systems for 2025.
At the same time, the number of babies born in 2019 (870,000) was the lowest ever, and this number will continue to decrease, making it important to ensure the healthy physical and mental development of those in the process of growing up. Therefore, pharmacists and health support pharmacies have a role to play in caring for their health. In the face of declining birthrates, it is important to provide the appropriate support for all stages of life. In order for pharmacists to support the health and well-being of infants, children, adolescents, young adults, and their families, innovation in pharmacy education is also necessary.
This symposium will be an opportunity to build a consensus on the role of pharmacists in child health and development.
