[IS02] PSJ-PSK Joint Symposium: MedChemCorona: COVID-19 frontiers in drug discovery research

Sun. Mar 28, 2021 3:45 PM - 5:45 PM [Room A] Oral Presentation A (Online)

Organizer: Hayashi Yoshio (Tokyo Univ. of Pharm. and Life Sci.), Doi Takayuki (Grad. Sch. Pharm. Sci., Tohoku Univ.), Ohno Hiroaki (Grad. Sch. Faculty of Pharm. Sci., Kyoto Univ.), Hirai Go (Grad. Sch. Faculty of Pharm. Sci., Kyushu Univ.)

COVID-19, a new coronavirus infection that occurred at the end of 2019 caused a global pandemic, and the infection is still spreading all over the world. In order to overcome this serious infectious disease, it is indispensable to develop therapeutic drugs that target the causative virus SARS-CoV-2 or host-side factors involved in the aggravation of pneumonia. Therefore, Division of Medicinal Chemistry (DMC) will be in charge of this Japan-Korea joint symposium held once every two years at the annual meeting of the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan (PSJ). DMC is the largest division in PSJ, which deals with drug discovery including industry, government and academia. In this symposium, under the theme of “MedChemCorona: COVID-19 Frontiers in Drug Discovery Research”, we will introduce the scientific advance of both countries for drug discovery to solve this important issue. Four speakers from both countries who are conducting the cutting-edge drug discovery related to COVID-19 and viral infection will give lectures. We hope that the symposium will be a wonderful opportunity to discuss how pharmaceutical science should work toward the drug development for solving this important issue of COVID-19. We are looking forward to your participation.

Opening remarks: Yoshio Hayashi (Tokyo Univ. of Pharm. and Life Sci.) (3:45 PM - 3:50 PM)

Closing remarks: Yoshio Hayashi (Tokyo Univ. of Pharm. and Life Sci.) (5:30 PM - 5:45 PM)
