[S27] Pharmaceutical education model core curriculum to train pharmacist/scientist capable of providing advanced healthcare in society over the next 20 years

Eighteen national and public universities have been developing an advanced education & study program to train pharmacists with high-level leadership skills and promote their global/localized activities through collaboration with support from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology since FY2016. As part of this program, the National and Public University Review Committee of the 6-year Pharmaceutical Education and Study System, which was launched under the direction of the Meetings of Deans (Directors/Presidents) of National and Public University Pharmacy Schools, addresses various issues, and this symposium deals with the pharmaceutical education model core curriculum among those issues. Specifically, with regard to the core curriculum being re-revised to train pharmacists capable of appropriately providing more diversified/advanced healthcare services that will be needed in society over the next 20 years, pharmaceutical education based on the future core curriculum will be discussed from the following perspectives, and related information will be shared during the symposium: 1) roles and goals of the curriculum in pharmaceutical education as advanced education, 2) basic qualities/abilities of pharmacists needed over the next 20 years and learning domains for their education, 3) the significance of graduation studies and clinical training as pharmacy practice in the core curriculum, and 4) roles and goals of pharmaceutical education based on the core curriculum in terms of quality assurance.
