[S39] New development of post-translational modification research activated by interdisciplinary collaboration

Mon. Mar 29, 2021 1:15 PM - 3:15 PM [Room G] Oral Presentation G (Online)

Organizer: Ito Akihiro (Tokyo Univ. Pharm. Life Sci., Sch. of Life Sci.), Uehara Takashi (Okayama Univ. Grad. Sch. Med. Dent. & Pharm. Sci.)

The activity of many proteins is regulated by post-translational modifications. The functional conversion of proteins by post-translational modifications determines cell fate and regulates various life phenomena, while their abnormalities often cause various diseases including cancer. Therefore, elucidation of the functional regulation of proteins by post-translational modifications leads not only to the understanding of the regulation of various biological phenomena, but also to the proposal of novel treatment of diseases. Because post-translational modifications occur target proteins through a chemical reaction in a living body, gathering of different fields such as chemistry as well as biology are necessary for understanding post-translational modifications. In this symposium, we will focus on chemical modifications including acylation, methylation and nitrosylation, and introduce functions and regulatory mechanisms of these modifications. In addition, we will introduce artificial control and comprehensive exploration methods using synthetic chemistry techniques, and detection methods by analytical chemistry. We hope that this symposium will enhance interdisciplinary research among molecular cell biology, pharmacology, organic chemistry and analytical chemistry with “post-translational modification” as a keyword.

趣旨説明:伊藤 昭博(東京薬大生命) (1:15 PM - 1:18 PM)

まとめ:上原 孝(岡山大院医歯薬) (3:13 PM - 3:15 PM)
