[S42] Synthetic organic chemistry: the young challengers

Mon. Mar 29, 2021 3:45 PM - 5:45 PM [Room G] Oral Presentation G (Online)

Organizer: Shigeno Masanori (Grad. Sch. Pharmaceutical Sci., Tohoku Univ.), Shibuya Masatoshi (Grad. Sch. Pharmaceutical Sci., Nagoya Univ.), Sumida Yuto (Grad. Sch. Med. Sci., Kanazawa Univ.)

This symposium, “Young Challengers in Synthetic Organic Chemistry”, has been inherited from the 121st Annual Meeting of the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan. It aims at contributing to activate synthetic organic chemistry in the Pharmaceutical Society, and to create a new research field, by lively discussions with young researchers.
Synthetic organic chemistry draws out the potential of organic molecules based on “Monozukuri”, meaning “Manufacturing”, and is expected to establish new functions and phenomena. Specifically, in the field of pharmacy, synthetic organic chemistry is closely related to a wide scale of structures, functions, and phenomena raging from a molecular level (microscopic level) to a human body level (macroscopic level). Despite its previous tremendous growth, there remains lots of unsolved important issues such as difficult molecular transformations and target compounds. Moreover, the application of the cutting edge of organic synthesis to create an innovative functional molecule (so-called, game changing molecule) is also important.
In this symposium, five young researchers in various fields will present their recent studies and philosophies. We believe that large and diverse participants will be interested in beauty of synthetic organic chemistry.
