[8] International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements

The year 2019 is the 150th anniversary of Mendeleev’s discovery of the periodic system. In 2016, the names of four elements, including the 113th element, nihonium, were decided, which completed the seventh period of the periodic table. In commemoration of these historical events, UNESCO and the United Nations proclaimed 2019 to be the International Year of the Periodic Table (IYPT 2019). This special exhibition is structured so that it can be understood while enjoying the development of the periodic table to the present day, the relationship between life and the elements, and the activities of scientists, and the results of research from Japan.
