The purpose of an artificial retina chip is to realize a prosthetic device for individuals with retinal impairment through electrical stimulation. The chip developed in our previous work offers high-rated stimulation and the ability to control multiple electrodes for improved delivery of retinal information. However, the stimulation current was limited by its maximum voltage, making it challenging to achieve constant current stimulation under high load conditions. To overcome this limitation, a new circuit was developed in this study to expand the stimulation voltage range, allowing the chip to effectively function even under higher load conditions.
