[16D-SIS11-01] Keynote: Materials and Reactions in Solid-State Battery
Keywords:solid electrolyte, solid-state battery, ionic conductor
Solid-state batteries are attracting attention. There are many advantages to batteries being solid-state. These include improved reliability and safety, increased energy density and power output, shorter charging times and an increased operating temperature range. We investigated the solid electrolytes to improve the performance of solid-state batteries, and the elucidation of battery reactions based on the electronic structure changes in solid-state batteries. New solid electrolytes are key to the development of solid-state batteries. New electrolytes developed in both sulfides and oxides are summarized. Their materials varieties, structures, and ionic conductivity are summarized and the characteristics for solid-state batteries are overviewed. On the other hand, the electrode-electrolyte interface in solid-state batteries can be considered as a heterojunction interface in semiconductors. The solid-state batteries enable to elucidate the band structures of the battery components during the charge-discharge reactions. The reactions in solid-state battery is described based the electronic structures.
