Powder metallurgy (PM) is an essential technology for metal Additive Manufacturing (AM) and has advanced AM processes for high-valued 3D metal parts fabrication. In recent years, from the perspective of circular economy, remanufacturing by AM, and recycling and conditioning of metal powder for AM, have been attracting attention. In this talk, the importance of sustainable manufacturing processes will be introduced, by showing some examples of remanufacturing including reuse, repair, refurbishing, and recycling of mechanical parts and metal powders as well. Additionally, alloying technology by using multi powder mixture function of DED type AM will be presented, which has potentially been applied to develop high entropy alloys. The combination of PM and AM has expected to proceed manufacturing technology in circular economy society, that will revolutionize present standard of consuming disposable new product business and achieve both circular use of material resources and environmental consciousness.
