[15D-SIS5-01] Injection Molding of Metal and Carbon Composites

キーワード:Metal injection molding, Carbon materials, Copper, Orientation, Mechanical property

Metal Injection Molding (MIM) process is suitable process for fabricating small and complex shaped metal parts with high production volume. Carbon Fiber (CF) and Carbon nanotubes (CNT) have high thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity and mechanical properties, thus, Metal/Carbon material composites would show great properties. Especially using MIM process to fabricate the composites, orientation would be controlled during injection molding. Also short fiber is easily and homogeneously dispersed in the metal powder during mixing process. In this study, Cu/CF, Cu/CNT composites were fabricated thorough MIM process. Effects of carbon material contents and orientation on the mechanical and thermal properties were investigated.
