The strengthening effect on Zn-based matrix composite remains far from expectation mainly due to the insufficient interfacial bonding between the reinforcement and Zn matrix, and the poor dispersion performance of the reinforcement in Zn matrix. Herein, we have developed a novel approach that combined the advantages of hetero agglomeration method and in situ growth strategy to ameliorate the interfacial bonding and dispersion properties of Zn-Cu-based biocomposites. GO sheets were uniformly dispersed on the surface of Zn powder via the hetero agglomeration method. Thereafter, the HA nanocrystals were growth in situ on the homogeneously dispersed GO sheets via a facile hydrothermal method. The intimate interfacial bonding between GO sheets and the reinforcement of HA was achieved by the chemical bonding between HA nanoparticles and O-contained functional groups on the GO sheets.
