[16F-SIS9-05] A Consideration of Relation between Transvers Rupture Strength and Size of Fracture Origin

*M. Kawakami1 (1.Fujidie Co., Ltd., Japan)

Keywords:Ultrafine-grained cemeted carbide, Fracture origin , limiting strength

Relation between transverse rapture strength (TRS) and the size of the fracture origin at each specimen of fine-grained cemented carbides with several grain size of WC were investigated. TRS was large so that the size of the fracture origin was small but TRS was almost constant, but slant of slight plus, below a specific size of fracture origin as with some previous reports. The specific size of the relation change point decreased by decreasing mean grain size of WC of fine-grained cemented carbide. The slant angle on relation between TRS and size of fracture origin increased by decreasing mean size of WC grain.
