[14C-T1-01] Keynote: Processing Powders by High-Pressure Torsion for Energy Application

*K. Edalati1 (1.Kyushu University, Japan)

Keywords:Severe Plastic Deformation, Powder Metallurgy, Mechanical Alloying, Functional Properties, Nanostructured Materials

High-pressure torsion (HPT) is a well-known severe plastic deformation method that is mainly used to achieve nanograined metallic materials with enhanced mechanical properties. The method also has a high potential for ceramic powder processing to achieve enhanced functional properties. Various energy materials with high performance have been developed by this method in recent years. One main reason for the high performance of these materials is the introduction of nanocrystals and crystal lattice defects. This talk reviews some of the recent achievements in processing different kinds of powders using the HPT method to achieve enhanced properties such as photocatalytic activity, hydrogen storage, and hydrogen production.
