[17F-T15-07] Fabrication of Bulk High-Temperature η-MoC Phase by Mechanical Alloying and Subsequent Pulsed Current Sintering, and Investigation of Its Several Properties

High temperature η-MoC phase was stabilized by mechanical alloying of Mo, C and TiC powders and subsequent pulsed current sintering. The nominal composition of sintered compacts were (Mo(1-x), Tix)60C40, x = 0-0.5. The sintered compact showed the single η-MoC phase in the sample with x = 0.1-0.5.
Using these samples, the mechanical, thermal and electrical properties were measured and compared with TiC and WC.
