[15F-T13-09] Fabrication of Carbon-Coated Titanium Composite Powders for Preparing High-Performance Titanium Matrix Composites
Keywords:Titanium matrix composites (TMCs), Composite powder, Powder coating, Powder sintering, Additive manufacturing
The morphology and distribution of reinforcements in titanium matrix composites (TMCs) play crucial roles in determining material performance. Currently, TMCs suffer from uncontrollable morphology and uneven distribution of reinforcements. To address this, a series of C-coated Ti composite powders were developed using fluidization technology. By tailoring the structure and composition of C-coatings, we achieved diverse morphology combinations and intragranular/interface reinforcements, significantly enhancing the mechanical properties of TMCs. Moreover, these composite powders were utilized in 3D printing of TMCs, resolving the longstanding issue of the unavailability of high-quality composite powders. These foundational findings offer new insights and a technical pathway for designing and regulating reinforcements in TMCs.
