One of the essential components of electric vehicles (EV) is the thermal management of the air-conditioning system. High thermal conductive materials significantly affect the EV's air conditioning efficiency. For example, suppose the component materials are not delivering the heating and cooling well. In that case, the battery consumption is dramatically increased because an electrical power system runs all of the electronic devices, including the air-conditioning system of the EV. In this study, we focused on developing high thermal conductive composite materials with tailoring properties based on the concept of functionally graded materials (FGM). The FGM was prepared through a powder metallurgical hot-extrusion process, and the carbon nanotubes were utilized as reinforcing material in the aluminum matrix. The thermal conductivity of the FGM showed a 30% increase over fabricating general Al alloy by extrusion process.
