Inappropriate sintering conditions cause residual pores in sintered products, resulting in a reduction in their strength.Although the densification kinetics during sintering are understood, the mechanism by which pores remain in sintered products is unclear. Not only the size, surface tension of powders and relative density of green bodies but also the size, shape, and distribution of pores in green bodies will affect the residual pores in sintered products. In this study, we simulated sintering behaviors using the Monte Carlo method under a constant condition of green body and traced the disappearance or remaining of individual pores. Then, an attempt was made to predict the residual pores in the sintered products from the characteristics of pores (size, shape, and position) in the green body. As a result, large-sized pores located near the center of the green body tended to remain in the sintered body.
