[16B-T5-03] Preparation of Plate-Type Permanent Magnets by Electrically-Heated Powder Rolling
Keywords:Electrically-heated powder rolling, Nd-Fe-B magnet
Consumption of Nd-Fe-B magnets used in motors increases as the demand for motors, which are essential for electric vehicles and various eco-friendly generators, increases. However, rare-earth magnets have many problems such as unstable supply due to geographical distribution and historical issues and environmental pollution caused by extracting rare earth metals from ore. Although there are many efforts such as recycling, fundamental problems have not been solved because current recycling methods using acid cause environmental problems. Recently, research on the circular economy, which is a concept of reuse rather than recycling, has been focused. Some researchers suggested the importance of developing magnets with a structure that is easy to reuse from the beginning such as segmented magnets. In order to fabricate the segmented magnet, the purpose of this study is to produce a plate-shaped Nd-Fe-B magnet by electrically-heated powder rolling as the first stepping for the development of reassembled magnets.
