[17E-T9-02] Development of a Novel Mixed-Powder Powder Metallurgy (MPM) Process
キーワード:Mixed-Powder Powder Metallurgy (MPM), Granulation, Sintering Parameter, Microstructure, Mechanical Properties
In the traditional powder metallurgy (PM) process, coarse metal powders (mean size ~100 μm) form large pores in the green compact and result in low sintering density. To address this, we developed a Mixed-Powder Powder Metallurgy (MPM) process, adding fine powders to coarse ones. Optimization of granulation yielded nearly spherical powders with good fluidity and low friction, allowing for green compacts with ~90% density. Sintering at 1325°C for 3 hours in a 95% argon and 5% hydrogen atmosphere achieved a sintered density of 95%, hardness of HRC 26, tensile strength of 935 MPa, and 4.2% elongation. The MPM process enhances sintered density and mechanical properties, providing a cost-effective competitive advantage in PM applications.
