The purpose of this study is to evaluate the compressive strength of sintered titanium porous materials and its composites with biopolymers. Sintered porous material has a network morphology connected with particles into three dimensions. Titanium alloy powder (Ti6Al4V) was used as raw materials, and the powder has been sintered by spark plasma sintering process at a temperature of 950 degree. Three kinds of biopolymers; PLA, chitosan, and chitosan derivative, were impregnated into porosities of porous sintered materials to produce the composites. It has been suggested to predict the compressive proof stress by modifying the Gibson-Ashby formula for this cellular materials. This prediction of compressive strength is based on a relative density regarding porosity and a relative compression strength measured by experiment. Compression test was performed and proof stress has been calculated. All experimental data can be expressed by the prediction fitting curves from the modified equation.
