The Cu-Ti powders were mixed by a horizontal ball milling, with different Ti contents. The mixed powders were sintered by a spark plasma sintering process at a sintering temperature of 850℃, sintering pressure of 40 MPa and dwelling time of 5 min at 850℃. The phase analysis results showed that Cu3Ti was detected when the Ti content was 4 wt.% or higher, which caused the thermal conductivity to decrease. As the Ti contents increased, the crystallite size decreased from 63 to 22.43 nm, and the Vickers hardness increased from 60.187±7.6 to 205.195±22.6 kg/mm2. The microstructure of the Cu-Ti composites was evaluated in terms of mechanical property. In the EBSD (Electron backscatter diffraction) analysis of pure Cu and 2 wt.% Ti sintered bodies, grain sizes were measured as 34.76 and 6.74 μm, respectively. Ti particles suppressed the grain growth of the Cu matrix, which contributed to improve the Vickers hardness.
