To augment the mechanical properties of copper for its role in heat dissipation, spark plasma sintering was employed with different mass fractions of Cr. Fabricating Cu-Cr materials involved a process of horizontal ball milling. The milled powders underwent fabrication with distinct Cr contents, and the sintered bodies underwent consolidation through spark plasma sintering at 850°C, under an applied pressure of 40 MPa. The attained relative density exhibited a range from 96.33 to 99.20%. Corresponding to the escalating Cr content, the hardness manifested a proportional ascent from 48.2 to 64.7 kg/mm2, concomitant with a decline in thermal conductivity from 415.3 to 336.6 W/mK. This behavior stems from the interference in heat transfer between particles as Cr atoms integrate into the Cu matrix. Furthermore, X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy delved into the intricate phase analysis and morphological transformations within Cu-Cr materials, unveiling the changes induced by the different Cr content.
