In this study, synthetic powders was used to prepare Mo2FeB2 based ceramic hard layers on stainless steel by hot isostatic pressing(HIP) technology. The influence of hot isostatic pressing temperature on the microstructure, interface, and hardness of Mo2FeB2 substrate was investigated. It was found, as the HIP's temperature increases, the Mo2FeB2 phase is distributed from irregular blocks to dispersed particles and grows again. The increase in temperatue leads to sufficient diffusion of the interface layer. Above 1200 oC, a clear interface between the matrix and the hard layer cannot be observed, at the same time the hardness of the ceramic layer is related to the morphology of Mo2FeB2 phase. At low temperatures, the hardness of the large hard phase is as high as 1353HV0.5. As the temperature increases, the hard phase becomes fine and uniform, and the hardness decreases to 983HV0.5.
