This paper presents a study on T15 high-speed steel produced through conventional and powder metallurgy (PM) methods, which involved electro-slag remelting, rolling, powder atomization by EIGA, HIP, and forging processes. The samples are heat-treated to achieve various austenite grain sizes, carbide types, volume fractions by austenitizing at temperatures ranging from 1180°C to 1220°C and tempering at 580°C. The microstructure is characterized using optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Mechanical properties, including Rockwell hardness, bending strength, fracture toughness, and impact toughness, are assessed for each microstructural state. Wear resistance is evaluated through ball-disc rotational friction tests at room temperature. The improvement in wear resistance, bending strength, and impact toughness associated with the PMed material is discussed in relation to its microstructural characteristics.
