A new europium (Eu) complex was synthesized using dibenzoylmethane and 2,2'-bipyridyl as ligands, i.e. Eu(DBM)₃bipy. Water molecules were successfully removed from it, leading to strong red emissions. The new complex is soluble in some organic solvents, suggesting that it is useful for a wet-process.
