Momentum is growing for the use of medical data like the NDB. Many private companies are keen to utilize this, but medical data can differ from actual treatment conditions, which can lead to misinterpretations. Access to the medical field for these companies is restricted, making accurate data analysis challenging.
The dot.b program, part of the Kansai Regional Medical Data Human Resource Education Center Formation Project, aims to train private sector personnel in understanding and correctly analyzing medical data. This involves lectures, practical training, data analysis, site tours, and training on electronic medical records.
In 2020, nine employees from six companies joined the six-month course, followed by four employees from three companies in 2021, and eight from seven companies in 2022. The primary needs of these companies were understanding how medical data is generated, acquiring analytical skills, analyzing real data, and networking with other participant companies.
Educating these companies on medical data analysis, considering actual medical conditions, is vital. The dot.b program is evolving based on feedback. In FY2024, it plans to offer on-demand lectures and will be shortened to four months while keeping the core content.
