[A-1-04] Polarization-controlled single-photon emitter combining a colloidal quantum dot and an elliptical split-ring metamaterial element
We propose a polarization-controlled ultra-small single-photon emitter that combines a nano-sized photon source and an elliptical split-ring metamaterial element resonator. Circular modes are suppressed in the elliptical metamaterial element which preferentially generates short-axis electric field oscillations, allowing polarization control of optical radiation. We fabricated the resonator by focused ion beam lithography and combined it with PbS quantum dots (QDs) as a prototype device. By the spectrum and the controlled polarization direction of the device emission, we confirmed the resonance between the QD emission and the resonator. When reducing the number of combined QDs to one, the device will work as a polarization-controlled single-photon emitter.
