Keywords:Atomic energy, fuel cladding, tritium

Samples were prepared by powder metallurgy, formed and sintered in two layers of zirconium metal only and zirconium metal with oxygen or carbon added, and then dissolved tritium. The redistribution of tritium was then observed using an imaging plate after the prescribed heat treatment. The redistribution of tritium was found to vary with oxygen, carbon, and heat treatment conditions, sometimes biasing toward the metallic zirconium side, and conversely toward the oxygen- and carbon-doped side.
