Greetings from Chair of the Organizing Committee

Makie Kokubun
Chairperson of the Organizing Committee of ACSAC10
Professor Emeritus, Tohoku University, Japan

We are pleased to announce that the 10th Asian Crop Science Association Conference (ACSAC10) will be held online from September 8 to 10, 2021. The Asian Crop Science Association (ACSA) was established in 1990. Dr. Takeshi Horie, the Honorary Chairperson of the Organizing Committee of this conference was one of the persons who founded the ACSA which has been holding the conferences, and we are very much honored to host this 10th memorial conference. We expect over 300 participants from 22 countries to this very important meeting.

On behalf of the ACSAC10 organizing committee, I would like to welcome all the participants and express our heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Sun-Hee Woo, the current President of ACSA who has been leading this society, two speakers of keynote lectures, Dr. Jacqueline Hughes, Director General of the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics, and Mr. Osamu Koyama, President of the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences, invited speakers of symposium and sessions and their chairpersons, and the presenters for their strong support and active participation. Our special appreciations go to the Crop Science Society of Japan led by President Junko Yamagishi, members of international committee, organizing committee, steering committee, various co-organizing and supporting organizations, institutions, agencies and companies for their strong supports, which have made this conference possible.

The theme of this conference is “Agriculture, Environment and Health for the Future Society in Asia”. Accordingly, the conference symposium will be held with its theme of "Climate Change and Advancing Rice Production in Asia". As such, we have intentionally selected and addressed these themes which are unique to Asian region to provide the opportunity for agricultural researchers in the Asian region to discuss the latest developments in the field of crop science. We do hope this conference will help Asian researchers communicate their research findings internationally as well. It also represents a great stimulus for young researchers in Asia and can contribute a great deal to the promotion of crop science, which in turn can exert a meaningful positive social impact through the realization of sustainable development of crop production in the Asian region.

We thank you in advance for understanding the purpose of this meeting. We are looking forward to your participation and contributions, and excited to meet you all in the conference.
