Chemically active fission products of rare earth, alkali, and alkaline-earth metals are accumulated in the LiCl-KCl electrolyte during electrorefining of metallic fuels irradiated in fast reactors. Prior to removing the fission products, actinides must be recovered from the LiCl-KCl electrolyte. In this study, the separation between actinides and lanthanides by means of batch-type countercurrent extraction using liquid Cd was evaluated.
