This paper aims to explore the role of local house builders in supporting the community space. For data collection, a literature survey into 13 cases of community spaces established by local housebuilders and an interview survey into 3 cases were conducted. As a result, the following results are obtained.
1) The functions are not only standard functions in community space but also unique functions, such as DIY studio and showroom. Some of the unique functions seem business-oriented.
2) The possibility that the community space can be a trigger for starting NPO, community space supports and incubates NPO's activities are confirmed. Dropping-in users rarely start interacting with others. Just only the hardware of the community space does not work for interaction. It would be important to have NPOs or other existing human networking use the community space.
3) One case indicates the running community space or leading NPO which uses the space as a base cause to benefit the core business. The benefit to the core business is considered essential to sustain the space by profit company. NPOs led or participated by presidents may have positive effects in terms of utilization of space, promotion of NPO activities, and return to the company's core business.
