低級アルコールやメタンは化学工業における基幹物質の原料になりえる。私たちは，低級アルコールをエステル，アルデヒド，アセタール等に転換する電解デバイスを開発している。また，メタンをC2炭化水素・芳香族類に直接転換する固体触媒の検討も行っている。いずれも脱水素的な部分酸化反応であり，触媒の種類や反応雰囲気が分子転換プロセスに強い影響を与える。

In spite of a large volume of previous studies, the nature of the active sites and the reaction mechanisms governing catalytic reactions are not known in detail. This is primarily because the synthesis of catalysts by traditional methods produces a wide distribution of metal particle sizes and compositions, impeding the accurate assessment on the nature of the surface, the active sites, and the catalytic behavior. This presentation will demonstrate the new synthetic route developed to prepare well-defined catalysts to achieve an effective link between characterizations and reactivity.
