Research is being conducted toward advanced heat transport control by controlling coherent phonons with a periodic structure. At room temperature, phonons on the order of THz contribute to heat conduction, which requires nanoscale periodic structures to control them, and atomic-scale integrity at the interface. Therefore, we are focusing on the natural superlattice of titanium oxide, which has nanoscale periodic surface defects as a thermodynamically stable phase. In this study, we measured the thermal conductivity of titanium oxide natural superlattice polycrystals including a highly complete periodic interface.
