[16p-Z04-2] Strange mineral crystals found in volcano and mining sites

Takuya Echigo1 (1.Akita Univ.)

Keywords:mineral, organic crystal, metastable

In natural environments, we can find various minerals that shows incredible size, morphology, coloration and microstructure and some of them are not reproducible in laboratory. Understanding their formation processes may be helpful to develop new crystal and the following examples will be introduced in this presentation: (1) organic crystals in Hg mining site and (2) metastable phase of silicate crystals in volcanic rocks.
