Keywords:self-assembled monolayer, time-domain thermoreflectance method, interfacial thermal resistance

As a method of interfacial thermal management, an approach using self-assembled monolayer (SAM) composed of organic molecules has been proposed. SAM is an appropriate motif to investigate a thermal propagation mechanism as well as a heat flow control because SAMs have a variety of design of structure, e.g., attachment patterns for a solid surface, an affinity with liquid molecules, a physicochemical property of a surface on a SAM. In this research, we fabricated tripodal triptycene SAMs which have several functional groups and evaluated an interfacial thermal resistance between water and Au with a SAM of the tripodal triptycene molecules put in using time-domain thermoreflectance (TDTR) method.
