[18a-Z09-7] Investigation of temperature-independent terahertz QPM devices

We investigated devices for wavelength conversion of the high-intensity terahertz waves. Quartz crystal has a birefringence of about Δ0.04 in the terahertz region, and the frequency dependence of the refractive index could be modeled using the Sellmeier equation. Both the refractive index and the absorption coefficient were found to be almost independent of temperature and stable over a wide temperature range from 100 K to room temperature. The QPM period in the terahertz region was calculated to be on the order of several hundred µm over the entire temperature range.
