We have investigated electronic structure of the MPc (M=Fe, Co, Ni and Cu) monolayers formed on In/Si(111) by photoelectron spectroscopy. Eg-orbital-derived interface states were found for FePc and CoPc, while such states were not seen for the CuPc and NiPc. This result indicates the important role of the out-of-plane 3d orbitals in determining electronic interface states of the metal/organic heterostructures.
