We are developing bifacial multi-junction amorphous Si solar cells generating over 3.5 V under 1000 lux indoor illumination as an independent power source for IoT devices. In this work, the optical simulation has been carried out for the sextuple-junction cells and it is indicated that the current can be increased at 22 % by the optimization of i-layer thicknesses compared to the experiment. In addition, the cell performance simulation for the various doping densities in n/p layers suggests that higher doping density and/or thicker n/p layers are needed to prevent the degradation of open circuit voltage due to their full depletion in the range without the serious optical loss.
