PE-BTBT-Cn, organic semiconductors with phenyl ethynyl group and alkyl chain as substituents, show characteristic layered structures depending on their alkyl chain length. Especially, disordered layered structure is realized in n = 6, in which the long axes of molecules are not aligned. However, when mixed with n = 12, which shows bilayered herringbone structure (b-LHB), it is indicated from experimental results that the mixed components of n = 6 and n = 12 show b-LHB, and thermal properties are drastically changed. In addition to device characteristics of PE-BTBT-Cn, the correlation between the b-LHB and liquid crystalline phases will be discussed.
