We are studying an aerial image display optical system that uses a polarizing diffraction grating and retroreflection. This optical system has very high light utilization efficiency because it reflects and emits light by total reflection and brewer angle. In addition, a polarized Fresnel lens and a λ / 4 plate can form an image larger than the light source in the air. However, the optical system is asymmetrical and distortion occurs in the aerial image. Therefore, we examined a polarized Fresnel lens that enlarges the aerial image and corrects the distortion of the image.
