Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) has been widely applied as an alternative to a conventional activated sludge sysytem. However, membrane fouling has been big issue for continuous operation in MBR. In this study, we investigated the effect of the sluge loading on the membrane fouling. Two A/O-MBRs were installed, the first system was a stable operation system, and the second system was a sludge load fluctuation system.Since there was a clear difference in the occurrence behavior of membrane fouling in both systems, the increase in sludge load affected the occurrence behavior of membrane fouling.
