[2S01m] NEURO2022 - Organized Symposium
Balancing synapse plasticity and circuit homeostasis - from molecular mechanisms to physiological functions

Fri. Jul 1, 2022 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM Room 1 (Theater (Okinawa Convention Center))

Chair: YUKIKO GODA (RIKEN CBS)

Synapses are highly dynamic. Synaptic strengths undergo activity-dependent changes with learning while homeostatic mechanisms are engaged to maintain functional stability of brain circuits. The symposium explores how synaptic mechanisms are orchestrated to implement homeostatic responses, towards the overall aim of facilitating the synthesis of novel views into the underlying molecular and cellular principles of homeostatic regulation. The talks address the logic of synaptic scaling in relationship to network activity in different brain regions, involving neurons and glia, and at multiple levels of synaptic circuits. Also, the talks feature a variety of cutting-edge methods, including applications of state-of-the-art genome editing technology and in vivo imaging while also highlighting advantages of model-based approaches.
