[2D01] Development of a Quantitative Analysis of B-10 for Boron Neutron Capture Reaction based on IEC and TMFD Systems

This work aims to develop a novel quantitative analysis method of 10B for BNCT. The proposed method is based on detecting Alpha-particles generated from the nuclear reaction between 10B and thermal neutron, which in principle different from the conventional method that investigating gamma-ray. The tensioned metastable fluid detector (TMFD) is used to detect the Alpha-particles, while the Inertial electrostatic confinement fusion (IEC) device is planned to provide the thermal neutrons in the present method. A proof of principle experiment has been conducted, and the preliminary results are encouraging. Experimental conditions and results will be discussed in the meeting.
