[2F09] Debris-bed Cooling Evaluation Using a Three-Dimensional CFD Code Coupled with One-Dimensional Debris-bed Evaluation Module
Keywords:CFD, coupling, debris-bed, core catcher
In a core disruptive accident (CDA), discharged molten-fuel from the core forms a debris-bed on a core catcher located at the bottom of the reactor vessel of sodium-cooled fast reactor (SFR). In order to evaluate long-term coolablity of the debris-bed with decay heat, a three-dimensional calculation method was developed in this study. The calculation method was composed of a three-dimensional thermal hydraulics code, STAR-CCM+ CFD code, and the debris-bed module of one-dimensional plant dynamics code, Super-COPD. The coupled code was applied to CDA transient calculation of a pool type sodium cooled fast reactor to understand the coolability of the debris-bed.
