Since the enforcement of the new regulatory standards in 2013, BWR plants have not yet been restarted, but five units have been approved so far, and preparations are steadily underway for their restart. This session focuses on the efforts to restart BWR plants, introducing the efforts to improve the capability of Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station Unit 7 as the human activities, and the countermeasures for severe accident characteristics of BWR plants at Onagawa Nuclear Power Station Unit 2 and Shimane Nuclear Power Station Unit 2 as the equipment measures.
