[R7-01] Fertile lherzolite in the Upper Zone of Horoman peridotite complex

Whole rock chemical composition of peridotite and mafic layer in the Upper Zone of the Horoman peridotite complex was studied to understand melt extraction and melt-mantle reaction in the upper mantle. The Fumo section is characterized by the frequent occurrence of fertile plagioclase lherzolite in the basaltic melt component rather than the Depleted MORB mantle in terms of whole rock composition. It is possible that these mafic layers were formed in the relatively shallow mantle and by refertilization by mixing of peridotite and mafic melt.
