[U09-P01] SDGs community and social engagement in education and research: Implication for JpGU

*Hidenroi Nakamura1 (1.Toyama Prefectural University)

Keywords:SDGs, community engagement, partnership, collaboration, linkage

Community engagement in education and research activities of higher education institutions is crucial for SDGs promotion. I reflect and introduce own cases of education and research in Chubu region of Japan, including Toyama, to share the idea and implication for JpGU activities toward inclusive partnership. The cases include education under the COVID-19 in collaboration with a citizen organization promoting SDGs, citizen-led backcasting-based scenario making with a student and researchers, clinical volcano disaster management study in collaboration with local governments, and citizen dialogue study in collaboration with scientists. Implications to JpGU include promoting identification of linkage between three aspects of SDGs, i.e., economy, society and environment, and each discipline and field of activity. Moreover, it is desirable to strive strategic partnership development intentionally and experimentally: linking research and community, linking education and community, and linking research, education and community.
