[AHW18-P10] Water and Nutrients Budget in Agricultural and Urban Catchment
Keywords:Water, Saijo River, Agriculture
Water is an essential part of life for every human being around the world. Climate change can affect the water demand and the water quality in the urbanized agricultural catchment. So, we will estimate the future trend of the water quality and water budget of the study area. The study area is Saijo River catchment which is only 2.96 km2 and agricultural lands are gradually decreasing in this area. Data loggers are placed in the Saijo River since June 2019 and a barometric pressure data logger is placed near the Saijo River where has temperature change in range is minimum to know the water level. The discharge is calculated by the water levels obtained from the data loggers. The rainfall data were obtained from NARO (National Agriculture and Food Research Organization) and calculated the water budget by differencing the rainfall and discharge. According to the currently available data, the evapotranspiration rate is around 60 % of the total rainfall. Although there was no significant change in rainfall, the discharge rate was found to be increasing year by year because of urbanization.
