[13a-N201-1] Electrochemical Reduction of Carbon Dioxide at Metal Electrodes
Keywords:carbon dioxide, electrochemical reduction, electrode metal
Carbon dioxide is electrochemically reduced in aqueous electrolytes at metal electrodes, forming various products. The product distribution depends on electrode metal, roughly divided into two groups, formate forming metals and CO forming metals. This process is explained in terms of state of the intermediate species anion radical CO2.-. Cu electrode specifically forms hydrocarbons and alcohols. This process is also discussed. Experimentals will be briefly discussed in connection with "Deactivation of electrode".
